Granite is a common and widely occurring type of igneous rock having a medium to coarse grained texture. The color of granite runs the entire color spectrum, depending on where it is quarried.
The texture of granite can be homogeneous or wildly dramatic. Granite is hard and tough, and therefore it has gained widespread use as a construction stone.
Granite is especially popular in the countertop industry because it is stain resistant, will not blister or scratch and sharp knives or hot pots will not damage them.
